Masao Morinaga

I am senior litigation counsel practicing exclusively in the area of family law. My practice frequently involves matters at the intersection of family law, tax, business interests and estates.

While litigation can be the right approach in certain circumstances, I also understand that not every problem should be solved this way. I take a strategic, solutions- oriented approach, drawing on a broad range of legal tools and dispute-resolution strategies to address each client’s needs effectively. Whether litigation is necessary or a more measured approach will better serve the client’s interests, I bring the experience and judgement to identify the right strategy for each matter and pursue it with purpose.

Before obtaining a J.D. from the University of British Columbia, I graduated from Simon Fraser University with First Class Honours in English and a minor in counselling and human development. I considered becoming a teacher at one point, and as a lawyer, I have been able to scratch that itch by delivering family law seminars at the Japanese consulate and support programs for new Canadians.
