Our Billing Philosophy
- Allocation of work: cost-effective allocation of work to take advantage of staff/junior associates with lower billing rates where appropriate;
- Transparent billing: clear and detailed billing to ensure the client is apprised of how much time was spent on each billed task (with explanations) and by whom;
- No surprise costs: proactively considering and discussing with client upcoming costs and expenses at each stage of the file to eliminate any element of surprise and allow clients to better plan for these expenses.
How Does It Work
- You are billed for time spent working on your file, and we use timers built into our billing software to record time for accuracy;
- The billing rates are based on skills and experience
- We bill at 1/10th of the hour increments
- Unless it is a fixed fee matter, we bill you on a monthly basis until the matter concludes except for dormant periods wherein little to no tasks were performed on a file
- All new cases require an initial retainer deposit, which will be held in trust and applied towards future billings. Any unused amounts at the conclusion of the matter will be returned to the client and should the deposit run out while the case is still ongoing, we will request a replenishment.
